My interest in risk communication -- and, more specifically, outrage management -- began in 2001 when I happened upon the web site of Dr. Peter M. Sandman.
Peter is best known for coming up with the basic formula for understanding risk: Risk = Hazard + Outrage. Like all great ideas, the formula is simple, elegant but profound. I've spent the better part of a decade wrapping my brain around it, and applying Peter's strategies and tactics to my field of public relations.
One of the major challenges is "connecting the dots" within Peter's sprawling web site.
To that end, using the curating tool Pearltrees, I've created this Introduction to Outrage Management. It connects the reader to the more significant pages within Peter's site that explain and expand upon the discipline.
It is a work in progress, so please let me know whether you find it useful.
